SENIOR DEVELOPMENT CHEMIST – RESIN APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
Trespa International B.V. in the Netherlands and Arpa Industriale S.p.A. in Italy produce High Pressure Laminates (HPL). HPL consists of layers of cellulose fibre, kraft paper, impregnated with thermosetting resins and bonded through the combined action of heat and pressure. Both companies are owned by Broadview Holding B.V.
The R & D is centralized to Weert which is around 30 km from Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Trespa International B.V. is now seeking a Senior Development Chemist, who will be responsible for the resin application development. Job requires that one is capable to formulate new recipes, test those at lab, carry-out lab and pilot scale resin synthesis and coordinate testing on pilot and also industrial scale until the new product (resin) is fully introduced to the market.
Senior Development Chemist will work both for Trespa and Arpa.
The new Senior Development Chemist will have, amongst others, the following tasks and responsibilities
- Analyze current in-house and commercial resins with their technical specifications.
- Hands-on lab and pilot scale work including resin synthesis, resin characterization, paper impregnation, laminate pressing and coordination of product performance testing.
- Project management and execution of R&D projects in order to introduce new resin solutions to the market.
- Build and maintain the network in the resins field, including suppliers, research institutes, associations and other companies active in the resin field.
The person Trespa seeks has at least 3 years of relevant experience working in an industrial R&D environment (preferably in the reactive chemical industry) having successfully managed and executed R&D projects in an international environment. Most ideally the person has gained R&D experience in the field of phenol formaldehyde and/or melamine formaldehyde resin binder systems, or is willing to familiarize himself/herself fast with the topic.
In addition, it is an added value if the candidate has knowledge about biomass polymers.

Proficiency in English and Italian is a requirement - other languages like Dutch and German are considered to be an asset.
The person holds a solid university degree, preferably in organic chemistry.
The location of the position will be at the Trespa International offices in Weert, The Netherlands, but will involve up to 30 % travel. One may relocate to Arpa Industriale S.p.A. in Bra, Italy after having worked at Trespa at least 2 years.
